The FASTCOM: 232/4-ISA adapter supports baud rates up to 725K¹, and is the most advanced four-port RS232 asynchronous serial adapter in the industry. Primarily designed for commercial, industrial, and OEM applications, the FASTCOM: 232/4-ISA features four discrete RS232 channels, complete with all standard hand-shaking signals for each channel.

The FASTCOM: 232/4-ISA in the "WINDOWS" mode is the perfect solution for system designs that require a true hardware/software compatible COM1, COM2, COM3, and COM4 adapter. The FASTCOM: 232/4-ISA in "FASTCOM" mode is perfect for system designs that require more than four channels (COM5 through COM8 and more). Its switch-selectable address and IRQ sharing allow multiple FASTCOM boards to be installed in a single system.

The advanced 16C854 UART on the FASTCOM: 232/4-ISA features full compatibility with standard 16C550 and 16C650 UARTs, but also provides extraordinary 128-byte receive and transmit FIFOs for buffering. This buffering is extremely important when working with RS232 communications within high-overhead operating systems such as Windows NT and 2000. The extra-deep FIFOs prevent data loss due to overrun and dramatically improve data throughput in all applications. The advanced UART on the Fastcom: 232/4-ISA is capable of baud rates up to 725K¹.

The FASTCOM: 232/4-ISA is designed with a compatible mode for operation in Windows 98/2000/NT/XP, and Linux Kernel 2.4.x. The user selectable address and IRQ setting switches allow for "driverless" operation in most operating systems, i.e. uses the system serial port driver for operation. The "shared interrupt" design and user selectable address also allow the installation of multiple FASTCOM: 232/4-ISA cards in the same system.
